FREELANCE WRITING & CONTENT STRATEGY

Microsoft

Industry: Enterprise B2B SaaS

Role: Editorial Lead / Content Strategist

The Opportunity: I worked with Microsoft to develop branded storytelling content for their Inside Track blog, demonstrating how internal teams use Microsoft products to improve workflows, processes, and systems.

What I Did:

  • Created a templated content brief for each story, defining the content structure and flow

  • Prepared for and conducted interviews with 3-7 Microsoft SMEs for each story

  • Developed the narrative, integrating SME insights with company resources and research

  • Drafted the story adhering to brand and editorial guidelines to maintain consistency

  • Managed the review and editing process

  • Optimized each story for SEO, including content formatting, linking, meta descriptions, and more

The Results:

  • 67% increase in web traffic

  • 30K+ monthly views and impressions

Why It Matters:

This case study demonstrates how I can find a narrative in otherwise “boring” subject matter. I was able to humanize the story so it connects more with audiences. Plus, it demonstrates my journalistic expertise in interviewing experts and finding the underlying story.

Content Example(s):

Listening to millions of IoT building sensor readings with load testing (Microsoft Inside Track)

Transforming Microsoft’s lobby experience with a new Microsoft Guest Management Systems (Microsoft Inside Track)

How Microsoft employees are leveraging the cloud for file storage with OneDrive Folder Backup (Microsoft Inside Track)

Transforming how Microsoft executives use their time with Microsoft Outlook calendar analytics (Microsoft Inside Track)
